Paxton Border Leicester Stud
Flock no. 4790
The entire Wongary Stud based at Wrattonbully, South Australia was purchased in 2009. The Hooper family did an outstanding job with their sheep, it was an easy decision to purchase the stud when they dispersed. The Paxton Stud has continued to breed fertile, sound structured, well muscled Border Leicester sheep. The wool type has remained constant with an emphasis on no extremes either fine or strong. The purchase of the stud has been a huge success with total clearance of rams every year. Approximately 400 ewes are mated every year. Sires are sourced from all over Australia, with many Champion rams being purchased at the Annual Horsham sale. Lambs are dropped in August and September. Approximately 160-200 rams are sold annually.
